Description
In 2002 Mike Lansberry needed software for his web-hosting business. Not finding what he needed at a reasonable price, he decided to create his own and thus phpCOIN was born in August 2002. Thinking that the package might be useful to other web-hosts, he released it in March 2003 for public use at no charge, and the frenzy began.
By 2004 phpCOIN had grown so popular that Mike didn't have the time to keep pace with feature and support requests. Accordingly, in February 2004 Stephen Kitching took over as the new developer and owner of future versions. phpCOIN has continued to grow, and is now included in Fantastico and Installatron auto-installation scripts. The user-base has grown to over thirty thousand installations worldwide, so several users have become part of the "phpCOIN Team", providing support and working on things like add-on modules, documentation, and more.
A member of the association of professional accountants (A.E.C.E.) in Spain, and with extensive experience in the computer industry, Karl has been involved with the development of many accounting software projects over the years and was the logical choice for driving phpCOIN to become a successful commercial application.
