I remember when I was almost a year old, my mother held me up by my hands and begged me to walk. Confused, I would not put my feet on the floor. I knew walking wasn't part of my life "plan" and wondered why everyone was so upset about it. Six months later I was diagnosed with a severe form of Muscular Dystrophy and my family was told I wouldn't live past age five. I believe that all of us choose our paths for a reason and often it takes a challenging life to teach us how to grow to our real height. My vulnerability and dependence on others teaches me the value of deep personal relationships, it challenges me to return love for hatred, and reminds me to always be aware of the unity of life. I believe that life is a classroom and that life's challenges are merely teachers of love and acceptance. I also think that perhaps our only real challenge in life is to acknowledge and heed the lesson!
Most of my own spiritual needs are fulfilled by my devoted practice of Tibetan Buddhism. I especially enjoy the teachings of His Holiness, The Dalai Lama, Pema Chodron, Mahatma Gandhi, and Stephen and Ondrea Levine. In 1993, I was ordained as a priest by The Sanctuary of the Beloved, where I vowed to use my life to teach the Truth of Oneness and help promote all levels of Healing.
