Description
We are the Unitarian Universalist District that covers Hawaii, Northern Nevada and Northern California. Our District is home to over 6,654 UUs in 38 societies, six unaffiliated groups and the Church of the Larger Fellowship. Twenty–six of our congregations have part– or full–time ministerial leadership, including two co-ministries. Of the 37 parish, education, extension, consulting and community ministers serving our congregations, there are 17 women and 20 men.Our District is home to one of the three UUA–associated seminaries, Starr King School for the Ministry with 61 students, as well as to the Pacific School of Religion, at which 16 UU students are enrolled for theological and ministerial studies.
Board of Trustees: A Board of Directors of 13 voting members, including a YRUU representative, governs the District. The District UUA Trustee serves ex-officio and is a non-voting member. The voting board members are elected to two–year terms at the Annual Meeting. Programs and projects are planned and conducted by committees established by the Board. These committees are listed in this directory.
Funding: The operating budget is $250,929.00 for the 2002 - 2003 fiscal year. Funds come from PCD society pledges, UUA grants, UUA allotments, meetings and conferences, the Bruml Bequest, and other miscellaneous sources. The budget is proposed by the Board and adopted by the delegates at the Annual Meeting.
