Description

GEORGE "G" PETERSEN is a graduate of the PJA School Paralegal Program, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where he earned his Certificate in Paralegal Studies in 1995. "G's" years of prior experience in the medical field as a hospital technician, and as an Emergency Medical Services worker, are a valuable asset to his knowledge in medical malpractice and personal injury practice areas. From 1996-2001, he served as a paralegal, investigator, information technology specialist, and computer network administrator for the prestigious Washington DC law firm of Spirer & Goldberg, P.C. , prior to embarking on his career as an independent paralegal.

"G" is an active pro-bono volunteer with the D.C. Bar Association's Pro Bono Program (formerly The DC Bar Public Service Activities Corporation), and in 1998, he joined the volunteer faculty of the DC Bar's Pro-se Plus Divorce Clinic Program, where he teaches volunteer attorneys and legal assistants how to conduct do-it-yourself divorce clinics for unrepresented litigants. "G" also participates in conducting several Divorce Clinics at D.C. Superior Court throughout the year.

"G" also represents the District's elderly as a volunteer advocate at Legal Counsel for the Elderly. In January, 2000, he successfully argued a Social Security widow's benefits case before an Administrative Law Judge. As a result of his vigorous representation, the elderly widow received over $13,000 in retroactive benefits, plus the monthly benefits she was entitled to. He continues to actively represent elderly clients referred by LCE.
