Dr. Yakshe was born in Virginia and raised in Pennsylvania. He earned a B.S.in Biology at Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales (now deSales University). He went on to earn a Master's degree in Biochemistry and then his Medical degree from Hahnemann University. He graduated in 1984 with distinction for continued excellence in the field of Medicine. Dr. Yakshe completed his internship & residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology, involving rotations at Georgetown University Medical Center, the Washington VA Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health. He took an additional year as an Instructor of Medicine to learn advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy of the pancreas and biliary tract. In 1990, Dr. Jack Vennes was instrumental in recruiting him to the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota. During that time, Dr. Yakshe served as Director of Endoscopy, Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Digestive Disease Conference, and was awarded funds to develop a multidisciplinary program in pancreas and biliary disease. He served as program chairman for the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Disease Conference in 1999 and 2000. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. After leaving the University in June of 2001, Dr. Yakshe founded Platinum Health, LLC to pursue his interests in healing people troubled by disorders of the pancreas, liver and alimentary tract in a balanced biomedical and psychospiritual approach.
