- The Pacific Wind Ensemble is comprised of local musicians selected from various Bay Area orchestras and chamber music groups. The core ensemble consists of 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, and 2 horns. This is the traditional instrumentation of harmoniemusik ensembles that were so prevalent in central Europe circa 1770 - 1820. Additional instruments are added to the ensemble depending upon the requirements of the score. Our broadly diverse repertoire spans some four hundred years, starting from the late-Renaissance antiphonal music to the avant garde offerings of the 21st century.
