Owens Corning Corporation is the world's biggest producer of fiberglass and allied yields. Company started as a result of merger between Owens Illuninios, American Glassworks and Corning Glassworks. One of the main products of the company is fiberglass insulation. Insulation was dyed and registered in pink tag. Plastic products are also one of the prima products of the company.
History
Companyís foundation was laid in 1935 after recognizing the enhancement in the glass fiber insulation market. Experimental costs made Corning Glass and Owens-Illinois to separate and began as independent enterprises. Approximately 632 employees worked for the company. Company became international by launching products in the global market. In 1952 company became public by trading on NYSE. Owens Corning in association with General Motors produced the first ever automobile made of fiber glass. A sale of $3billion was reported in 1980 which rose to $5 billion at the end of 1999. On April 18, 2002, David T. Brown became the sixth CEO of the companion April 18, 2002. More than 40,000 applications ranging from automobiles to computer systems, from pipes to aircraft are made of Owens Corning glass fiber materials.
