Worsham's 'Original Designs' always sparkle on the pageant runways. Winifred Worsham, a well known pageant dress designer started the company, Original Designs in 1982 in Corpus Christ, Texas. Original Designs is dedicated to beauty pageants and creates award winning outfits for children and women of all ages. Holly Mills, "Miss Texas USA 1998" worn a gown by Winifred Worsham when she gave up her crown at the Miss Texas USA pageant in South Padre Island. Original Designs has designed and created hundreds of dresses for pageant winners throughout the United States.
"The most important thing about a dress is its ability to stand up to the hot lights on stage," she said. "Some dresses are made without thinking of how a girl looks on stage. Every contestant must show her own personal assets to the best advantage while competing. A poorly dressed contestant can make a very bad impression on the judges."
Worsham's pageant gowns are labor-intensive with most gowns taking between 70 to 100 hours to complete before a young woman takes the stage. In addition to her work with beauty pageant gowns, she also creates cocktail dresses, debutante gowns, wedding and bridesmaid's dresses, twirling suits, interview suits, western and rodeo outfits as well as outfits for children. It takes imagination to create the right design for a contestant entering a beauty pageant. Contestants need a winning edge in upcoming beauty competitions, and, Original Designs will help contestants to achieve that goal.
