Description
The principals of Operitel Corporation have worked for many years on adaptive software development for the federal government, major telecommunications companies, non-profit organizations, and large school boards. For the past five years, Operitel Corporation has worked with Dr. Gary Woodill and Dr. Karen Anderson (developers of educational software since 1993), to create LearnFlex™, a flexible and adaptable learning management system (LMS). LearnFlex™ combines the educational software designs of Woodill and Anderson with the proven application development experience of Operitel.
Operitel understands that it is not enough to be able to deliver a major software application, but a successful contractor must be able to manage and deliver the entire process of setting up and implementing online information and reporting systems from beginning to end. Based on our experience, we understand that an effective online information system development process involves multiple stages that include planning, project management, business analysis, content development, graphic design, information and interactivity design, application programming services, and quality assurance processes.
Operitel has developed a set of principles for the proper design of online products, and strongly believes that online information and reporting systems are completely ineffectual if not designed properly. Design includes the methods for presenting information, the graphical look and feel, the programming methods used, the appropriateness of the material for the target audience, the depth of programming evident in the levels of interactivity found in the information and reports, and the efficient operation of the information delivery platform.
The Operitel team has the knowledge, skills, abilities, experience and education to both understand and deliver on all the themes listed above. This is evidenced by the reference projects which are summarized at the end of this proposal, where we have been able to deliver flexible information technology solutions on time and on budget, while fully meeting client requirements.
Operitel Corporation has 42 full time employees, including four members on the executive management team. The management team includes; Michael Skinner (Chief Executive Officer), David Fell (Vice President of Business Development), Carlos Oliveira (Vice President of Product Development), and Jason Stimers (Controller/Business Manager).
Operitel was founded via the merger of several companies over the course of 2001, (Interlynx Multimedia, Dialogue Technologies, Profis Web Corp, ISDIC) and incorporated in early 2002. There are four partners in this Canadian owned company, and the company has grown exclusively though investment from the partners and exponentially via strong growth in revenues and profit. Unlike others in our industry, (including some of the largest LMS vendors) Operitel is profitable and our cost structure allows us to use our profits to reinvest in product development and support growth in strategic sales and marketing initiatives. The partners at Operitel each bring a diverse set of skills and background experience and have committed to a 15 year vision of growth and diversification for Operitel.
One recent example of the success of our diversification plan within the learning technology space can be found in the attainment of our Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status. Operitel is working closely with Microsoft, and some of our existing clients, to integrate our LMS into the Microsoft SharePoint® portal to provide integrated knowledge management and informal collaborative learning capabilities.
