Operation Diabetes was launched in October 2001 by AMHOP and Herbcare in answer to the country’s rising diabetes incidence. The Program empowers the people to take the lead in curbing the further spread of diabetes in their community. Our thrust is prevention at the grassroots - prevent those with impaired glucose tolerance and predisposed persons from acquiring diabetes, and the diabetics from developing complications. This we shall achieve through sustainable education on diabetes prevention and care, and an emphasis on how to live a healthy lifestyle to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. In 2005, the Philippine Department of Health decided to officially endorse Operation Diabetes in recognition of the program's initial success and sustainable goal to hold down the local diabetes incidence.. .
We will help establish one diabetic club in each municipality and city. The club shall be the catalyst to raise diabetes awareness and promote lifestyle reforms to hold down the local diabetes incidence. It is also the medium to help doctors monitor the diabetics' health in the community, and detect early those who are at-risk
