The primary aim of the petition for the Warrant of our new Lodge was expressed to be "to bring together a group of Freemasons who cherish our masonic home at Beaconsfield and who are committed to ensuring its long-term future by actively:
a) promoting and continuing the extremely popular social activities previously organised by the Beaconsfield Masonic and Community Centre Appeal Fund Committee.
This last aim would be to encourage the members to further their Masonic knowledge and disseminate it to others. We would aim to dedicate a small part of each meeting to an "educational topic" in allusion to our name, "The Old School House Lodge". This would not be in the nature of research, but rather "why do we do this", or "what does that mean". Far too many Brethren, young and old, are unaware of the many facets and facts of Freemasonry, and it will be our aim to encourage a better understanding of these by explanation, together with "question and answer" sessions. We feel that, whilst recruiting new Freemasons is important, holding on to them is essential. If we can give them a better overview and understanding of our Craft, we stand a much better chance of retaining them.
