The OTO is an international organisation that aims to promulgate the concept of “Thelema”. As expounded in the Book of the Law (aka Liber Al vel Legis), Thelema is a Greek word for “will” that refers to an individual’s true will corresponding with attainment of Godhead or self-realisation. Thelema bids us to discover our true will in our own unique way. By embracing the totality of our life experience we can bring our whole idiosyncratic being to resonate with the Divine.
Generally, OTO initiates are an introspective bunch with a high level of inquiry. We explore a range of practices in order to find a path that reverberates with our own sense of self. We begin with anthropological/religious investigation and being born into the turn of the century’s Hermetic tradition, commonly utilise tools such as Ceremonial Magick, Qabalah, the Tarot, Astrology and all manner of what was then known as “occult” knowledge.
Our main tool is a series of quasi-masonic Initiatory Degrees. These ceremonies act psychodramatically to put us in touch with subconscious aspects of the self thereby providing an opportunity for internal change.
