- Late in 2003 a new Unified Permitting Initiative was announced among the State's Transportation Federation partners, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), the New York State Thruway Authority (TWY) and the New York State Bridge Authority (BA). The vision is to create a seamless automated system for customers to file a single application, pay a single fee and secure a single permit that will allow customers to move oversize or overweight vehicles over facilities owned and operated by any of the three state agencies. Presently, customers must make separate applications to each of the agencies and receive separate permits with different terms and conditions from each agency.
