- Kate was born and raised on a dairy farm just north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shortly after her ninth birthday, her family relocated to Grayling. After high school, she attended Western Michigan University to pursue her passion in art. During her last few years of college, while home for the summer, she landed an interpretive job at Hartwick State Pines State Park. By the fall of 1998, Kate attained her B.A. and promptly came home to the job she loved and the beauty surrounding Northern Michigan. She developed her love of Michigan's native animals, flowers and trees by leading visitors of the park on guided nature tours. Now, a printer, for a local college, Kate continues her love of art and nature by offering products and guided nature tours. You're going to have to give her a call if you're ever in the area.
