Handspinning Fiber and Cotswold Sheep - Nistock Farms
Description
Since 1990, sheep have grazed the rolling pastures of our 530-acre farm, which is located in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York.
Our flock consists of white and colored registered Cotswold sheep, colored crossbreds of mostly Border Leicester and Corriedale lineage (NCWGA registered) and white crossbreeds of the same type. All have been selected for superior fleece, mothering ability and structural correctness. Please see our 2003 awards.
Shearing begins in March of each year and then is followed quickly by lambing. By midsummer we decide who we will keep, who will end up in the freezer, who will be sold for breeding stock and we shear the Cotswolds again, as their fleeces grow about an inch per month!
