- News Free Comics began last year as a small free paper distributed locally in the Parkersburg, West Virginia area. One of the reasons for starting this paper was to feature some of the newer talent in mainstream newspaper comics, who have a more difficult time finding newspapers to carry their strip. New strips are stifled due to the lack of space on newspaper comics pages.
