the school stationery business, having established their associated company some 22 years ago in Verulam, Kwazulu-Natal. The directors are Harry Rupnarain (Chairman), Manik Rupnarain (Managing Director), Kamal Rupnarain (Finance), Kishore Rupnarain (Marketing), Ajesh Rupnarain (Production) and James Singh (Maintenance).
Harry Rupnarain is certainly no stranger to the stationery manufacturing business. Initially a part owner in a transport company, he and other partners in the company decided to sell. They found a buyer in PUTCO for their fleet of buses and this provided them with the capital to branch out into a new venture. With R750 000 on hand in 1969, they explored the market to find a 'niche' for themselves in the competitive stationery business. At the time that particular field was the domain of high profile white companies in this country, but that didn't deter Harry and his colleagues. They founded Republic Stationery and the company soon began to progress very rapidly because of their competitive prices. But Harry was still not satisfied. He wanted a company of his own, and it was this dream that gave birth to New Age Stationery in 1979.
In 1997, the directors of New Age made a whistle stop to Harrismith and purchased 5000sq. meter factory, comprising of offices, staff housing and land in extent of 60 000sq. meters. The land and building was ideally
