Description
international financial services sector was launched in 1984 with the enactment of the Nevis Business Corporation Ordinance. In recognition of the benefits that could accrue to the economy of Nevis and its citizens, the administration enacted a series of legislation from 1994 to 1996 which were specifically tailored to meet the needs of trusts, limited liability companies and offshore banks and provide a wide range of other financial services aimed at the enhancement of the facilities of our international financial services industry. In 1998, the government established the Nevis Financial Services Department within the Ministry of Finance, which provided a central location from which international financial service activities could be administered. In 2000, the department was separated into two divisions, namely: the development and marketing division and the regulatory and supervisory division. This action was taken in an attempt to better serve the clients of the industry.
