My interest in meteorites started after watching a meteorite hunting special on the Discovery channel. I have always enjoyed the outdoors discovering new areas. Growing up in Nevada I have spent many days in the field. What a great interest to add to my outdoor activities. After reading about the discovery of meteorites at Gold Basin and spending a couple of days hunting I found my first meteorite! It was 100 gram complete meteorite. It was about one year later that I found my second meteorite in Nevada, and a couple months for my third meteorite. The new meteorites sat in my garage for about one year before they were confirmed new Nevada meteorites by the Smithsonian Institute. I decided to spend more time at the location of finds. Little did I know things were about to change. Within a few hours of hiking I would find more meteorites. What a better excuse to get a new camera and start photographing meteorites and the Nevada desert. Both areas would produce many meteorites. I started hunting different locations throughout Nevada, California and Arizona. With patience and many hours of hunting I started to find more. During this time , spending numerous hours I learned different techniques and tactics for locating meteorites. A lot of it was just spending time in the field and having patience and knowledge that over the years meteorites have fallen everywhere. The Southwest Deserts were a perfect place for locating meteorites.
The other good part is meeting all the other hunters and enthusiasts and hearing their stories. the meteorites on my web page are some of the meteorites I have found.
I'm fortunate enough to have a family to let me take off and chase space rocks. Without this encouragement and love none of this would have been possible!
