We are a 100% Canterbury-owned and operated chain of tyre service outlets committed to providing Canterbury drivers with the very best products and services.It's been that way since 1946, when Len Neumann first set up business in Ashburton to service the Mid-Canterbury region.
Today, 56 years on, the company has grown to include The Tyre General Christchurch and The Tyre General South Canterbury (based in Temuka). As a group, we can draw on years of expertise gained from specialists in every tyre category It's this experience that enables us to identify the best tyres for the job, no matter what the job is, and we only stock the best. Because we're serious about giving you the best performance whether you drive a car, light truck, heavy truck, tractor, earthmover or a forklift.
In 1996, we purchased the Bandag retread manufacturing plant in Christchurch in conjunction with General Tyres Southern.We renamed it Tyre Retreaders Christchurch Limited to reinforce the local focus of our business. By keeping the retreading in-house, we have total quality control over the entire process. It also means you get a rapid turn around as little as two or three days.
