Description
I have been horse mad from a very young age, much to the amusement (and dismay) of my long suffering family. I don't come from a horsey background, and living in the centre of London I didn't have a lot of contact with them, but have always been obsessed with anything to do with horses. Some of my earliest memories were going to Wembley as a very young child, my father had a friend who did jousting displays so I got to go behind the scenes. He also had a friend who kept horses under some railway arches, and every chance I got, I would visit and could often be seen riding a shetland round the back streets of Camberwell.
I managed to persuade my parents to let me have riding lessons, and then my own pony. When I outgrew him we didn't have the finances to buy and keep a bigger one, so I rode and helped out with other people's horses for many years. I also trained as a BHSAI, but after two serious accidents and a family of my own to support I had to give up horses for a few years.
When my family were off doing their own thing, I worked in a riding school at weekends and in any spare time, to reacquaint myself with the current horse world. After this I went completely mad and bought my own horse 'Bailey'. He was a complete nutter when I first got him, but over the years he has taught me so much about a horse's mind. It was through Bailey's problems over the years with his back and saddles that led me to Heather, Enlightened Equitation and her saddles which I have been testing and using for over 2 years now.I live in the Fens with my family and ever growing group of animals on my own small holding, which we came to after many years of being fed up of livery yards and living around London.
