Description
The National Charter Schools Institute (NCSI) was established to provide much-needed assistance, solutions and resources to charter schools throughout the United States. Since 1995, NCSI, formerly known as the Michigan Resource Center for Charter Schools, has served charter schools to effectuate long-term and systemic improvement. NCSI incorporated as a Michigan nonprofit corporation at the end of 2001.
The long-term goal of NCSI is twofold: high performing students and effectively run, independent public enterprises. To meet this goal, NCSI remains dynamic and focused on charter school concerns. Its staff routinely gathers information from charter school leaders about their critical unmet needs and challenges. NCSI then customizes its programs and services in order to most effectively address these challenges, resulting in an up-to-the-minute menu of targeted, effective support options.
NCSI is not a policymaking body or think tank. Instead, it is a hands-on, operational service center that supports the success of the U.S. charter school movement through the delivery of practical solutions for daily problems. By focusing on administrative operations instead of high-level educational policy, NCSI believes it will most strongly and directly make a difference in the lives of children throughout the country.
