Here you will find yourself in an enormous wilderness preserve of unspoiled mountains, lakes, forests and streams. It is this completely natural and undisturbed setting that makes Nahmakanta Lake Camps the most authentic and unique wilderness camp in Maine.
Our camp yard lies between two trout streams in a beautiful setting of tall shade trees, spacious green lawns and wildflowers. From the screened porch of their lake front log cabin,our guests enjoy a spectacular wilderness panorama as far as their eye can see. Except for our cabins and lodge, the Nahmakanta shoreline is entirely wild with enormous granite boulders and beautiful natural sand beaches.
Nahmakanta has been a traditional wilderness camp since the 1870's, but we also attract hikers, bird watchers, nature lovers, and photographers who appreciate it's quiet beauty and isolation. Many of our guests have been coming back for 30 years. And while there is much to do here, it is a particularly good place to do nothing at all!
