Nicole Andersen Book Arts was established with the goal of creating the highest quality custom hand bound albums, portfolios, and boxes. It is our mission to use only the finest materials and supplies available. Among our favorite materials are papers, silks, and leather from around the world. Superior in quality, silk cloth and silk brocades are imported from Japan, Korea, and India. Hand marbled papers from England, Italy, and France are made using the same techniques that have been used for hundreds of years. Hand silk-screened papers from Japan are printed on kozo, a soft, supple, handmade paper. Fine leathers are available in countless colors and textures. Exotic papers are made from such unusual materials as cork, flowers, and leaves. To ensure that your keepsakes will last forever, all of our album pages are acid free and our adhesives are pH neutral.
With this variety available, we are able to create the most fitting album, portfolio, or box for any individual. Everything made by Nicole Andersen Book Arts is created by hand, with the utmost attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoy working on custom requests -- Nicole Andersen Book Arts thrives on the challenge of unordinary requests for oddly shaped items, rare materials, and unusual colors and textures.
Nicole Andersen has trained with some of the most highly regarded and esteemed bookbinders in Northern California. She began her training at Mills College in Oakland, California with Julie Chen, a distinguished book artist. Later, through Julie, Nicole was introduced to Eleanore Ramsey, a greatly celebrated fine hand bookbinder. Nicole immediately started to study with her for her famous design French bindings, and was a student of hers for several years.
