Laura is an artist and writer who combines an in-depth knowledge of archetypal and mythological material with over 21 years of professional creative experience to produce works of intelligence and beauty for a wide range of expressive media.
A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, Laura has worked as an art/creative director, a photographer, graphic designer, information architect and interface designer in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Seattle region. She has received training from the San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State University's Multimedia Studies Program, and for the past eleven years has also owned and operated Studio Strong, a web and communication design firm, which produces "design with spirit in mind" for clients across the United States and abroad.
In addition, Laura holds an MA & PhD in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA. Her personal interests have also led her to study with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and to take a variety of workshops related to death, dying and rites of passage. Her PhD dissertation examines the role of the archetypal psychopomp, and how these mythical guides are returning to Western consciousness at this time to lead us towards a better relationship with death and the transition to the afterlife.
