MXI acquired by Rocket Software
As some of you may be aware, I have been exploring the options for the ongoing development of MXI for some time now. As the product has grown and gained more and more users, I have in turn become more concerned about my ability to continue to support and develop it at an acceptable level. With a full-time job and two young children, my spare time is limited, and I found that maintaining MXI was consuming more and more of it.
For this reason, when I was approached by Rocket Software with an opportunity that not only ensured the continuing development of MXI but allowed me to remain closely involved, I jumped at the chance.
For those who don't know the company, Rocket Software is a product development company with extensive MVS, OS/390, and z/OS expertise. Rocket develops numerous products, many of which are made available to mainframe customers under the IBM DB2 and IBM Tivoli brand names. Their intention is to develop MXI as a commercial product with the full weight of their resources behind it, i.e. 24hr support, manuals, access to OCO interfaces, testing and QA, rapid turn around of enhancement requests and early support for new versions of z/OS.
