About the Mitral Valve Prolapse Center of Alabama
The Mitral Valve Prolapse Center of Alabama opened in March 1987. It was founded by Dr. Phillip C. Watkins and Lyn Frederickson.
Dr. Watkins' interest in MVP treatment dates back to 1973. Lyn Frederickson was involved in a MVP program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Together, Dr. Watkins and Frederickson developed an innovative, comprehensive approach to treatment of MVP. Their mission was MVP research and education.
The MVP Center of Alabama opened in 1987 at Montclair Baptist Hospital. The Center is now housed in the Alabama Heart Institute building on the campus of Montclair Baptist Hospital.
