Morningside United Church

Description

Morningside United Church is a union of North Morningside Parish Church (Church of Scotland) and Morningside Congregational Church (now of the United Reformed Church).

The congregation uses the recently refurbished former congregational building, while the parish church building is now occupied by the Eric Liddell Centre. Eric Liddell, the famous olympic gold medal athlete, rugby internationalist, and missionary was a member of the Congregational Church, and taught Bible Class there.

In 1974, the two congregations linked together to call one minister to cover both churches. In 1980, the two congregations entered into a formal union to form one congregation. We are administered by the Kirk Session and the Congregational Meeting, assisted by specialist groups dealing with:
