About Montessori Home, Inc

Providing your child with a first rate education is important to ensure their future success. Montessori schools have created a unique method that fosters the fulfillment of children's highest potential by focusing on the enrichment of the entire personality as opposed to a particular body of knowledge. While Montessori schools are of the highest regard they are often too expensive for the average family to afford.

Montessori Home, Inc is a website by Carole Wolfe Korngold which sells books and learning materials for kids in order to apply the Montessori Method at home. The resources found at Montessori Home, Inc are integral in aiding parents who are interested in teaching their kids with love and devotion that only a parent can provide. The website offers CDs and interactive material for kids to sharpen their analytical skills. The Montessori system relies on the activity of the child to self actualize his/her potential through physical activity, environment and engagement of the director who guides the child to develop practical skills.

The concept of Montessori

Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori was, in many ways, ahead of her time. Dr. Montessori’s pioneering work created a blueprint for educating children, from the learning disabled to the gifted, and for helping children to become self-motivated, independent and life-long learners. Many of the concepts that she invented have now become pioneer in early childhood education. Ideas that she pioneered include:

  • The most important period of life is from birth to the age of six... [as] this is the time when intelligence is being formed.
  • That early stimulation is very important for success in later learning.
  • That children learn from an active, hands-on approach that draws on all five senses.
  • That learning materials should be interesting, reality oriented, and designed to facilitate self-correcting and the refinement of sensory perceptions.
  • That real learning involves the ability to do things for oneself, not the passive reception of knowledge.
  • That imposing immobility and silence hampers a child 's ability to learn.

Testimonials

Today, I feel more connected and involved with Mace's Montessori education. I have attended parent education nights, conferences and read Montessori-based books, but I have developed a much deeper understanding of the Montessori methods used to foster a child's love of learning through this home based program

JenniferRussell-Long

Montessori's Language program provides students with an opportunity to explore their world using a variety of labels and story cards. It enables the child to experiment with sounds and letters to form words and progress toward simple sentences. Reading a a progression in the Montessori classroom and as it unfolds the teacher is graced with new awarenesses of how the progress differs from child to child. Reading is an AWESOME experience to witness!
