- Do you fondly remember small family owned Italian restaurants where you knew the owner by name? Before the chains took over, there were restaurants like Montebello in every city neighborhood. Montebello is one of the few independently owned restaurants that still exists with a history of family that emigrated to the United States in the early 1900’s. Montebello is named after a small town in Italy, close to Venice, which is translated to “beautiful mountain”. Our cucina is a miscellany of regional, provincial, local and family dishes that vary from season to season, earning the slogan “Perfection- Italian Style” by a Boston food critic.
