Montcalm County was one of three counties chosen to participate in a project called Information Technology for Intergovernmental Cooperation (ITIC). ITIC was a grant funded project to demonstrate a new approach to improving and supporting communications between local units of government within Michigan’s counties - with a special emphasis on land use planning and sustainable community development. Using simple and direct computer-based communication systems that support and encourage coordinated decision-making and land use planning, this innovative approach fosters new collaboration and cooperation between schools, local units of government, and regional agencies.
