We set up mondaytofriday.com because we were fed up with long-stay hotels and endless hours of commuting. We wanted somewhere nice to live but we still wanted to go back to our homes and families at the weekend. We needed somewhere from Monday to Friday and it was hard to find.
Spending so much time away from home in the week, one of our founders, Judy Niner wondered about finding a lodger herself. She learned that the Rent a Room scheme would allow her to earn £4250 tax-free but she wanted to have the house to herself during precious weekends at home. In fact, she wanted a Monday to Friday lodger.
Talking to friends and colleagues, we discovered that we were not alone. Many of us want a better work-life balance and staying away during the working week can help us all to achieve it. Also, lots of us are happy to share our homes with a lodger in the week and would like to earn up to £4250 tax-free but we still want our privacy at the weekends. So Monday to Friday lodging became mondaytofriday.com – a web-based service for homeowners and lodgers.
