Title

MitoScan rapid mitochondria-based bioassays for environmental toxicity monitoring and product safety testing

Description

MitoScan Products were acquired from MitoScan Corporation in December, 2000. MitoScan Corporation was a biosensor company based in Madison, Wisconsin. Founded in 1991 as BioRenewal Technologies, Inc., the company initially focused on bioremediation services for environmental engineering firms while at the same time working toward commercialization of its MitoScan technology. In 1998 the company sold its bioremediation laboratory and sensor business and focused on development of new applications for its technology in the drug discovery market while further improving its products for uses in environmental monitoring and product safety testing.

MitoScan particles for toxicity testing remain available commercially from Harvard Bioscience, Inc. Please contact the MitoScan Product Group to learn more about collaboration arrangements or for additional information about MitoScan. Please visit the Harvard Bioscience Web site for further information about us.

Karl Gustavson joined the company in early 2000 as MitoScan's Director Technical Development. Karl is no stranger to MitoScan's sub-mitochondrial particle technology. He has been working with the sub-mitochondrial particle test since he began his graduate studies in 1994. In addition to his duties at the company providing technical support for MitoScan customers and prospective customers, he will complete his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison Environmental Toxicology Center. Karl's email is keg@mitoscan.com. Contact him directly if you have a question or would like to get ideas on a MitoScan application you are considering.
