- I was out taking pictures of the ships in the deep-sea harbor in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the ever-fighting seagulls around them with my dad when I was eight. My first camera was an Exacta with top-view prism (Dad had two of them for us). Back at home, in the printshop my family still owns, I learned dark room techniques on the job — I was kerning type on a photo-mechanical stripprinter in gradeschool and shooting positives on an 1100 lbs. stat camera.
