Description

The Association was organized in 1989 and officially incorporated in 1990. Since that time it has encouraged and assisted in the placement of "Historic Route 66" markers along the major alignments of the road, with an emphasis on the "classic" Route 66 which had its heyday from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s. Today U.S. 66 has been officially decommissioned, and replaced in Missouri, for the most part, by Interstate 44.
