About the Missoula Skatepark Association
The Missoula Skatepark Association (MSA) is a 501(c)3 organization formed in 2000 in an effort to build a public skatepark in our town. The 100% volunteer-run MSA (in partnership with the City of Missoula, Missoula Parks & Recreation, and the Missoula Redevelopment Agency) is currently constructing Phase 1 of the Missoula Skatepark in McCormick Park. The total project budget is $650,000 and over $500,000 has been raised to-date.
Currently there are no free, professionally designed, permanent skateparks in Missoula, MT. Skateboarders are left with little choice but to skateboard in public areas such as parks, sidewalks, and stairs. The Missoula Skatepark will be finished in the summer of 2006 and the design includes security and venue lighting. Video surveillance cameras will also be installed and used to monitor the premises and required helmet use.
