Mission Beach Australia North Queensland • Holiday Accommodation Information

Description

Set in its own cluster of tropical rainforest and the sparkling jewel of the Great Green Way is Queensland's Mission Beach. An uncomplicated yet vibrant beachfront town with over 14 km of magnificent golden sandy beaches. Surely the phrase 'where the rainforest meets the beach' was coined here at Mission Beach. Long stretches of clean golden sands with, in most places, the rainforest literally fringing the pristine beach have given the area a very unique reputation.

Offshore are the beautiful Family Group of islands including the famous Dunk and Bedarra Islands, and just south is the largest island National Park in the world, Hinchinbrook Island. Dunk Island is probably one of the best known of Australia's tropical islands, largely due to the writings of E. J. Banfield, who lived there from 1897 to 1923.

Less then 4 km offshore, Dunk and the Family Group of islands make up Mission Beach's aquatic playground. Day trips to Dunk Island from Mission Beach can be enjoyed with minimum effort.
