We came up with the idea for MinkgLove.com out of necessity. Inspired by the James Bond movie "Thunderball" where Sean Connery 007 massages one of his lovely ladies Patricia Fearing into rapture with a mink glove, we wanted to buy one and have a little fun too. To our surprise, we couldn’t find any mink gloves online or at fur shops, and our local furrier wanted $450 to make a custom one. So we took the plunge, designed a couple of mink gloves and gave one to a good friend for his wedding gift. It was a smashing success. Friends and then friends of friends started asking for gloves in chinchilla, fox, rex rabbit, sable and – voila! – MinkgLove.com was born.
Being a small company dedicated to luxury and quality has its advantages. We can ensure that our gloves and accessories are handmade. We can spend time selecting each fur based on quality of texture and touch.
Our company can also take Animal Welfare seriously. All of our furs are from ranched animals unless otherwise indicated. We tailor gloves from furs with minor optical flaws leftover from the fashion industry or are bi-products of the food industry which would have been discarded. Our tailors craft each glove so that any optical flaws are hidden. Sometimes we have to buy a lot more fur to make one glove than if we were to use perfect furs, but we feel the extra effort and expense is worth it and we think our customers will agree. For those who desire a purely “conservationist” glove, we designed a Mink Strips Massage Glove made of hundreds of tiny leftover mink strips laboriously sewn together.
