In reality, about us is really just me. I have a BS in mechanical engineering. I graduated from Oregon State University in 1967. I must admit I was not the best student as I cared more about playing baseball for the Beavers than I did engineering at that time. My specific area of study was in HVAC, although I have through the years worked in many different fields of engineering.
Out of school I worked for five years as a project engineer for a large international chemical company in California. After realizing making chemicals was not my thing, I spent the next six years having my own woodworking business and living and playing in the mountains of Colorado. This is where I first started to get my passion for being warm and how to achieve it with economics in mind.
After my woodworking days, I went to work for a number of years as a design engineer for mechanical systems in residential and commercial buildings. Several of these years were spent designing energy efficient systems for institutions and commercial buildings and trouble shooting thermal problems in existing buildings. Through these years my passion for low tech and passive solar structures increased.
