Mr. McKay's experience in law practice is extensive. He began his practice in Bunkie, La., November 1, 1980, and became immersed in the various areas that affect individual working people--real estate, family law, estates, adoptions, and the like, along with bankruptcy, criminal law, and general civil litigation. He is a member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. McKay served approximately 15 years as a part-time public defender, and was chief defender for five years, before becoming an Assistant District Attorney, thus giving him a thorough knowledge of criminal law and the workings of the criminal justice system. His practice includes representation of various parties in trial courts, appellate courts, and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Stability and dependability are hallmarks of the McKay Law Office, demonstrated by having maintained an office in the small town of Bunkie, La., approaching 30 years without interruption. Mr. McKay is a member of the Bunkie Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), First Baptist Church, Bunkie, the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana City Attorneys Assoc. He is a life member of VFW and DAV. He is the father of three children including two daughters, Holly and Managan, who are now law school graduates and judicial clerks, and a son, Dan III, soon to graduate in biology at LSU, Baton Rouge.
