The saga of the Tempurpedic mattress begins at NASA. You guessed it…the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In the early 60s NASA scientists were developing a material that would reduce the effects of acceleration on space cadets. NASA never used their discovery but they delivered the formula to the public domain so private companies could use it in their products.
