Title

Martin House Dolls

Description

Martin House opened its doors for business on March 30th, 1985 and in doing so, became the first retail shop in Canada to carry artist dolls & bears, miniatures and dollhouses. The heritage and ambiance of a fine historic home in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada was transformed into a fairyland for doll, teddy bear and miniature collectors.

A neo-classical frame house with fine detail, it was built c. 1845 for Joseph Walls, esq by John Martin, a young carpenter from Devonshire, England. Two years later, the house was re-acquired by John Martin as his own home. It is recorded by the Canadian Inventory of Historic Buildings and the Ontario Inventory of Buildings. We decided to name the shop "Martin House" to remember the good carpenter and to reflect the heritage of the community.

Martin House has gained a worldwide reputation as being THE place to find exquisite collector dolls, teddy bears, miniatures and dollhouses. By bringing Martin House to the world wide web, we hope to give our customers from all over the world the ease to shop from the comfort of their own home or office 24 hours a day seven days a week.
