Additional Information

This is where our work on coping with configure and make will emerge in the world of GNU. We want to be able to reliably build GNU Smalltalk and ncurses and Slate and Io and Smalltalk/X on cygwin or mingw. We openly mock UWIN until they pull up their socks. Our first tools were config tools - one very complex, one quite simple and one middling complex but able to demonstrate re-use. We love re-use. It is because C and C++ are not about to disappear despite groovy and scala. And ocaml and clisp are in for the long haul. Java? Well, that remains to be seen. Javascript? It has a case of ECMA and a likely deadend called ActionScript. Survival of the fittest. Or the DoD mandated. So what is a Smalltalker enamoured with Prolog to do? Build stuff. Such as tools for java that work when java is messed up and ditto for python and ruby and gnu gcc.
