Major League Lacrosse

Description

Background: While lacrosse is America’s oldest game, it may be the “freshest” sport in the nation. Its unique blend of fast-paced, high scoring, hard-hitting action has made it the fastest growing team sport in the United States. In lock step with this growth, Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was successfully launched in June 2001 as a single entity ownership structure to showcase the best professional outdoor lacrosse in the world. MLL was founded by Jake “Body by Jake” Steinfeld with founding partners Dave Morrow, Tim Robertson and Jim Davis.

Our Teams: In 2006 Major League Lacrosse became truly a “national league” when it welcomed the Chicago Machine, Denver Outlaws, Los Angeles Riptide and the San Francisco Dragons into the MLL. The new teams will form the Western Conference while the six original teams – Baltimore Bayhawks, Boston Cannons, Long Island Lizards, New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage and Rochester Rattlers will be members of the Eastern Conference. While there are local team operators in each market, the new ownership groups in Denver and Los Angeles both come with tremendously successful backgrounds in sports. Denver is led by Denver Bronco CEO Pat Bowlen while Los Angeles is operated by the Anschutz Entertainment Group. MLL will add two more teams in 2008 with possible markets including Columbus, Dallas, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle and St. Louis.

Our Players: The 350 best lacrosse players in the world – well-spoken young men from some of the top academic institutions, including Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, Duke and Virginia. MLL icons include the legendary Ryan Boyle, Gary Gait, Conor Gill, Jesse Hubbard, Jay Jalbert, Mark Millon, and current superstar siblings Casey, Mike and Ryan Powell.
