Before we begin let us introduce ourselves. We're Paul and Ada Raymond, better known as Pe-Ba and Grammy to our grandchildren, Tamlin, Ashlyn, and Cailey. We've had an addiction to Disney for many years, since 1982 to be exact. Fortunately, our daughter, son-in-law, and all three grandkids have inherited our love for Disney too. This website was created for them with LOTS of love!
In April of 1982 the company Paul was working for decided to change hands. The new owners wanted to do a major overhaul, so they decided to shut the doors down for one month. My Grandmother was living in Florida at the time and although we spoke on the telephone often I hadn't seen her since shortly after our daughter was born. It took very little thinking to realize this was the perfect time to go visit her.
The next week we prepared for our big trip. I requested two weeks vacation from my job, we found a pet sitter, packed a suitcase, bought a roadmap, and the following Saturday morning we were on the road. No kidding, that was the extent of our planning. We hadn't really thought of visiting Walt Disney World until we started seeing all the Mickey billboards along the highway. Keep in mind we had a seven year old in the back seat chanting can we, can we. So, when we arrived in the Orlando area around 3pm on our third day of travel we decided why not. That was the best decision we ever made! I can still see the look on our daughter's face the moment we walked through the Magic Kingdom gate, and I can still hear the laughter in her voice as we rode Big Thunder Railroad for the first time. Those memories will be with me forever.
