- The idea of LUMS Daily Student was conceived by a group of “wired” sophomores from the batch of 2009 who wished to fill the void created by the lack of an interactive university website. They felt that being a Luminite was more of an individual than a group experience; there was too much going out there, and too few that they got to know about in time. The email servers crashed just when concert details were sent out, the tickets went on sale just after they’d left for home a few kilometers away, and once the event was over, all they received in the form of feedback were random thumbs up or disappointing exclamations. In the environs of the Computer Labs, Second Floor, Library Building, LUMS, these enterprising Luminites decided to do something about what they felt. And so, LUMS Daily Student was born. The gestating period has been long, but well spent. We, at LDS, hope to provide every Luminite with a connection to their University. The aim is to make sure that everyone’s included and that no one feels left out. It’s a place where you get to hear anything and everything LUMS, and pour out your own views as well. LDS is not only a forum; it is the unofficial handbook every Luminite needs to carry; who lives close to you in case your car breaks down before the midterm, where can you go to occasionally revive your taste-buds after bland PDC food, who managed to break an ankle while showing off at the tennis courts, which instructor is a stingy grader and which courses are easy in case you’re looking for a relaxed quarter. We hope to give you all you need as you wade, plunder and tear your way through LUMS. Join us, and sit back for a sassy time!
