Land Use Controls (LUCs) - Home

Description

Through its research in the field of land use controls, also known as "institutional controls," the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and its partner agencies and organizations have come to understand the importance of providing a clearinghouse of information on the subject for the use of all stakeholder groups. In this effort, ICMA has been collecting materials and documents pertaining to LUCs from non-profit research groups, local governments, local reuse agencies, restoration advisory boards, the private sector, and federal and state agencies, creating a valuable resource for all stakeholders challenged with the implementation and effective coordination of LUCs.

LUCs.org is part of ICMA's continuing effort to enhance the effectiveness of local government through professional management. Founded in 1914, ICMA is the professional and educational association of over 8,000 local government executive administrators and their staff. Members manage cities, counties, towns, townships, boroughs, regional councils, and other local governments in the United States and throughout the world with populations ranging from a few thousand to several million people. Members and other government officials rely on ICMA for information, research, and technical assistance, made available through a range of publications, training programs, and other services.

LUCs.org was established through cooperative agreements between ICMA and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Cooperative Agreements #CR-R-828708-01 and #CR-825713-01. ICMA has worked with both US EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) including the US EPA Federal Facilities Restoration and Reuse Office (FFRRO) in the development of this Web site.
