Lotus Enterprises was established in Bali in 1977 as a Hotel Management Consulting firm, which evolved into a Hotel Development and Management Company in 1983. It had successfully taken over, renovated, managed and developed a series of small, deluxe properties such as the famous Tandjung Sari and Amandari hotels.

Lotus Enterprises opened its first Travel Agency in Bali under the name Lotus Asia Tours in 1991. It then took over the already famous Cafe Lotus in Ubud. The company opened one restaurant every year and to date, there are 9 restaurants owned and managed by the Lotus Restaurants Division .
