- In early 1996, Chris Andrews was searching for a word, a brand, to signify a high end "live" experience on the Internet. "Cybercast" and "webcast" had become over-used generic terms. He first chose "Intercast" but had to drop it due to a conflict with a new Intel technology with the same name. So he dreamed up "Livecast", bought the domain name, and filed for the trademark on August 29, 1996.
