About Castle Point

Castle Point is 38.9 miles east of London, 13.5 miles south of Chelmsford. Castle Point is situated on the Thames coastline of South East Essex. The District is divided by Benfleet Creek, an inlet of the Thames estuary, into two distinct parts. To the north - on the mainland of Essex - are the communities of South Benfleet, Thundersley and Hadleigh which are now built, extending one into another, on the low range of hills, this ridge rising to 280 feet above sea level, topped by the ruins of Hadleigh Castle, which gives the District its name. The Castle was built around 1231 and is now a ruin. To the south is Canvey Island Which has it's own Lions Club.
